Brand New Look At Captain America: Brave New World

Kevin Feige and Anthony Mackie journeyed to Las Vegas for CinemaCon to unveil "Captain America: Brave New World," the latest offering from Marvel Studios that casts Mackie as the lead of the next instalment.

Feige reminisced about the enduring appeal of "Captain America: The Winter Soldier," citing its grounded approach to the superhero genre. He assured fans that "Cap 4" would continue in this tradition, teasing the audience with a sneak peek clip.

Mackie, who has portrayed Sam Wilson since 2014's "The Winter Soldier," has been a mainstay in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). He gained further prominence with his own Disney+ series, "Falcon and the Winter Soldier," which explored Sam's journey towards embracing the mantle of Captain America as a Black man in America.

In "Captain America: Brave New World," we find Sam fully embracing his new role as Cap under the direction of Julius Onah. The film also marks the MCU debut of Harrison Ford, who steps into the shoes of Thunderbolt Ross, previously portrayed by the late William Hurt. Returning alongside Mackie are Danny Ramirez as Joaquin Torres, Liv Tyler, Tim Blake Nelson, Carl Lumbly, and Shira Haas.

The clip unveiled at the event sets the stage with a White House encounter between Sam Wilson and President Ross, who seeks Sam's help in rebuilding the Avengers. However, chaos ensues when Isiah Bradley, a former soldier, is triggered into a violent outburst during the meeting.

This sneak peek holds significance as Marvel recalibrates its output, focusing on quality over quantity. With only one film slated for release this year and two for the next, "Captain America 4" is set to hit theaters on February 14, 2025, followed by "Fantastic Four" on July 25, 2025.

The clip concludes with a poignant exchange between Ross and Sam, underscoring the latter's individuality as he steps into the iconic role of Captain America. Ross telling Sam, “You’re not Steve Rogers.” Sam responds, “I’m not.”
