On the verge of releasing his biggest film to date, the A24 megahit, Civil War, director Alex Garland has announced that he has no plans to direct a movie after his next film releases in cinemas. Whilst he intends to quit directing, he will continue to write films. Garland explained that “I do actually love film, but filmmaking doesn’t exist in a vacuum” citing his frustrations with Hollywood’s reliance on VFX and Hollywood’s inability to handle nude scenes with actors in a thoughtful and respectful way.
This was reported in an interview that Garland did with The Guardian. You can check out below for the trailer of his latest film, Civil War, releasing on the 12th of April in the UK.
